It Was An Il Pastaio Kind of Day!

When Ryan Tasz emailed me, inviting me to lunch today, I just knew that we were headed to one of his all time favorites, Il Pastaio Ristorante, located at 400 N. Canon Dr. http://www.celestinodrago.com/ - According to Gourmet Magazine, the food at Il Pastaio is like " a taste of heaven". And they are not lying. Master Chef Celestino Drago and Executive Chef/ Partner Giacomino Drago, are two brothers that have proven that preparing great pasta dishes could be classified as a science! The presentation is unbelieveable, and they are serving the food proper! I mean, the bread and olive oil was a meal within it self. The first thing out of Ryan's mouth was - "Let's get some of The Crispy fried Calamari!" YES! It was fried just right and not oily at all. His Organic Baby Romaine, Parmesan Pannacotta and Ciabatta Crostino salad was very satisfying. I had the Small Penne Pasta with Cherry Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Chicken in Bolanaise sauce. It was comfort food. Then we decided to split dessert - Tiramisù - OOHHH it was so light and creamy, sprinkled with the best chocolate, and the Lady Fingers were so tender and delicate. Then they swirled, ever so lightly, Cafe Latte all around the Tiramisù, on the plate. Ummmmm....

It's nothing better than dining with a good friend. What a lovely way to spend a Tuesday afternoon in Beverly Hills...
