Carla Thomas' spin on "Slum Dog Millionaire"

Frieda Pinto walked up to me in Spago Beverly Hills* one sunny day, wearing a lovely silk chiffon orange dress that had the most beautiful jewels embedded in the garment. Her own jewelry was beautiful as well. She told me that she was from India and that her garments were from India and that she was in a film called "Slum Dog Millionaire"**
She was truly beautiful and very very polite. She introduced me to Danny Boyle and then they went to their tables and I kept doing what I do best...

I had no idea that Danny Boyle's film, "Slum Dog Millionaire"** would touch my heart and the hearts of many.

Danny Boyles' portrayal of the character Jamal(Jamal K. Malik) in "Slum Dog Millionaire"** was brilliant!
When Jamal's co-worker( in a call center in Mumbai, India) asked him to hold down the fort while he sneaked off to watch "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire", Jamal was the man!
He not only answered the phones in the call center but he actually got a chance to make a few calls - calls that altered his fate - again. You see, Jamal and his brother Salim were orphans and had it rough growing up on the streets of Mumbai. They had lost contact and Jamal was for ever searching for his Latika.
Latika was considered the third Three Musketeer in their friendship, based on a novel written by Alexandre Dumas - 'The Three Musketeers' (Les Trois Mousquetaires).
The three children's childhood was unforgettable. Jamal is telling the story. Oh, the child that played young Jamal, was portrayed so very well by Ayush Mahesh Khedekar. The three children(well, truly it was six children that played the three different stages of growth for the three characters) that portrayed young Jamal, Latika and Salim were remarkable. The film captured my heart. I had to keep in mind that this was a fictitious film and although some of the scenes were based on reality, there were some things that were depicted in the film that were way way over exaggerations; one must admit that the out house scene when young Jamal jumped into *hit to actually run up to a celebrity, b/o and all, and get an autograph. The child would have been stopped two miles away! BUT, the scene was funny!

Freida Pinto and Dev Patel's characters, Latika and Jamal had some kind of love.

The kind of love that will makes you snap your fingers and move your hips kind of love. The kind of love that makes you smile all day and sing while you walk down the street kind of love - a mighty love!

Please go see the film if you can. It was truly a good film.
Until next time...
